DEBBIE & DANNY

When Deb married Danny she was still just a kid
But nobody could thrill her the way that he did
Her momma and daddy tried to make her change her mind
They said, "True love will wait, honey, give it some time."

But when he get that look in his eyes
Her heart would start pounding and sparks would start flying
And all the defenses that she built up inside
Would come tumbling down when she thought of a life without Danny

So seven years later, she's sitting home with the kids
Alone every night with no sign of him
He never makes excuses for the time spent away
And she knows not to ask and what not to say

Cuz' when he gets the look in his eyes
Her heart would start pounding and fists could start flying
For the sake of the kids and a little peace of mind
She'll swallow her pride and never complain about Danny

She's thinking, no more lying alone beside you; I want a love that's true
And when I find the one I'm trying to; you know we're going to stick like glue

She's washing the dishes while he's betting sports on the web
She's replaying the tapes of the heartless, hurtful things he just said
She's making out a list of what she wants in her head
And the changes she'll make in the life that she's led

And when he gets that look in his eyes
She packs up the children and pushes right by him
Saying give me one good reason why I should keep on trying
And as he searches his heart for the very first time
Says, "There aren't any."
